Downtown Lloydminster Construction
Central Business District Replacement
Downtown Reimagined
The City of Lloydminster will be moving forward with the next phase of planned infrastructure upgrades in the downtown core, with construction on the Central Business District Replacement Program - Phase 1B scheduled to begin the week of May 25, 2026.
The Central Business District Replacement Program is a multi-phase program which focuses on renewing aging underground infrastructure while enhancing the look, feel, and function of the downtown area. By proactively replacing infrastructure that has reached the end of its lifecycle, the City is helping ensure reliable services and supporting long-term growth in the community.
The project includes:
-
replacement of the water main
-
replacement of the sanitary sewer main
-
replacement of the storm sewer main
-
full reconstruction of 50 Street
-
replacement of sidewalks, curbs and gutters
-
installation of streetscape features, including benches, trees and waste receptacles
With consideration to the temporary suspension of some services, including the roadway, the City of Lloydminster aims to maintain a two-way flow of information between the municipality and affected businesses. These businesses have been consulted throughout the planning and implementation of this project.
The CBD Replacement Program aligns with the Downtown Area Revitalization Plan (DARP) and reflects the City's long-term approach to investing in infrastructure and public spaces.
