  • hazardous materials events
  • ice and water rescues

During Fire Prevention Week, the Lloydminster Fire Department reminds residents that fire safety begins at home. With lithium-ion batteries found in everyday items such as phones, e-bikes and power tools, it’s important to know how to charge, store and dispose of them safely. Improper use can lead to overheating, fires or explosions.

The Lloydminster Fire Department is once again teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to raise awareness for fire prevention. This year’s campaign, “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” focuses on the steps everyone can take to keep themselves, their families and their homes safe when using lithium-ion batteries.

The community is invited to attend the annual Fire Prevention Week open house:

When: Wednesday, October 8, 2025
Time: 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: D.E. Gustavson Fire Station No. 2 (2706 59 Ave)
