Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan

Safety and Security are one of the seven priorities identified in the 2022 Community Social Needs Assessment. The City of Lloydminster received $43,000 in grant funding from the Government of Saskatchewan Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety to create a community safety and well-being plan. The primary objective of this project is to identify non-traditional strategies to reduce negative interactions between authorities and marginalized groups.

Timeline

November 4, 2022: Work began on the Community Safety and Welling Plan. This was achieved through a series of focus groups with youth, Indigenous peoples, newcomers, people experiencing homelessness, members of the 2SLGBTQ+IA community, and service providers.
July 17, 2023: The findings of the community engagement were presented to Council.
